Château de Bellet - Nice

Rare grape varieties

The 13-hectare vineyard is farmed organically.
The Barons of Bellet were among the few winemaking families who, after the Second World War, replanted “ancient, local grape varieties that are highly distinctive and well suited to this terroir, such as the Vermentino B grape, known locally as Rolle, intended for the production of white wines, and the Braquet and Folle Noire varieties reserved for the production of red and rosé wines.”
Rolle, now associated with Provençal terroirs, therefore originated on the lands of the appellation.
The indigenous Braquet grape has always been associated with Bellet wines in early ampelography treatises. Its name comes from an old family from Nice. To achieve greater aromatic complexity, a third grape variety with a “temperamental” character is blended in, from which it takes its name: Folle Noire.
Rare grape varieties for exceptional wines.
